We aim to provide considerate, patient-centred orthopedic care.

This department treats conditions and injuries of the bones, joints, and spine. Care typically centres on medication, rehabilitation, and lifestyle guidance, with surgery where it is needed, from fractures, including of the proximal femur, through to lumbar disc herniation and lumbar spinal stenosis. Since Dr. Yoshihiko Saito joined us, we have strengthened our sports orthopedics work, including anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction and joint replacement surgery, each followed by rehabilitation aimed at restoring function. We also have a 1.5-tesla MRI, a 64-slice multi-detector CT, and an X-ray fluoroscopy table for contrast studies, supporting prompt testing. We aim to tailor treatment to each patient's symptoms, circumstances, and preferences; please talk to us about any concern.

What we treat

General orthopedics

Most conditions are managed with medication, injection, and rehabilitation as a first approach. Where a case calls for more specialised technique, we refer to a partner institution suited to that treatment.

Sports orthopedics

From professional athletes to weekend sports enthusiasts, we assess sports injuries and conditions and support an early, well-managed return to activity, with feedback back to the patient's team where relevant, both around diagnosis and after surgery.

Joint replacement surgery

This surgery removes a joint damaged by injury, age-related osteoarthritis, or rheumatoid arthritis and replaces it with an artificial joint, aiming to restore function and relieve pain.

Spine surgery

Dr. Hirabayashi specialises in spine surgery, treating conditions including spinal stenosis and osteoporotic vertebral fracture.

Rehabilitation

We provide comprehensive rehabilitation for inpatients. In our community-based care ward, we provide the specialist follow-up needed to support a return home.

Facilities

Exercise therapy aimed at functional recovery (strength training, range-of-motion work, gait training) is available to inpatients only; we generally do not provide outpatient exercise therapy. If you are interested, please ask at the orthopedics clinic.
