Visiting the Emergency Department

Steps for using the emergency department

1. Call us and describe your symptoms.
2. We will ask your name, age, and sex, plus your patient ID number if you have one (or date of birth if you do not).
3. Please agree on an expected arrival time with the nurse on the call.
4. On arrival, bring your insurance card, your medication notebook, and your patient card if you have one, to the general reception desk at Tokyo Adventist Hospital.
5. Once registered, please wait in the waiting area.
6. Your name will be called; please go to the consultation room.
7. After your consultation, take the blue file to the accounting desk and wait there.

Patients are seen in order of clinical urgency rather than arrival time, so a wait is sometimes unavoidable. We appreciate your understanding.

Families with a child covered by a paediatric medical subsidy who owe no payment can collect their prescription and leave directly.

Accounting is unavailable outside regular hours; a deposit will be taken and settled later, on any weekday other than Saturday (Mon-Thu 9:00-17:00, Fri and Sun 9:00-12:00).

There are times we are unable to accept patients depending on circumstances. Please call ahead before coming in.

This hospital is designated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government as a Secondary Emergency Medical Institution (as of December 1, 2004).

The emergency department is at Tokyo Adventist Hospital itself, not the outpatient building.

The emergency department is intended mainly for patients arriving by ambulance with serious conditions. Unlike a regular outpatient visit, the tests, medications, and length of prescription available are more limited, and specialists from every department are not necessarily on site. We appreciate your understanding.
