Tokyo Adventist Hospital joined the international HPH network (Health Promoting Hospitals & Health Services) on July 3, 2018.
Alongside treating illness, we have long invested in preventive health, in keeping with our founding church's advocacy of a health-focused lifestyle and a plant-based diet, and health promotion efforts going back to the hospital's founding, including an early role in the introduction of a non-smoking carriage on the Kodama Shinkansen in 1976.
We also hold health fairs and educational seminars aimed at raising health awareness in the community. We continue working to support the health of our patients, our neighbours, and our staff, and to contribute to a healthier community.
What is a Health Promoting Hospital (HPH)?
In 1989 the World Health Organization launched an international network to put health promotion into practice, working toward better health for patients, staff, and local residents, alongside communities, businesses, non-profits, and local government, in support of healthier, fairer, and more equitable societies.
