- Each additional night beyond the estimate adds approximately 50,000 yen.
- The caesarean estimate assumes 30% insurance co-payment; the full private-pay cost is approximately 1,110,000 yen.
- A private or upgraded room carries an additional charge.
- Any admission before the delivery date itself is included in the total night count.
- Eligible for the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's epidural childbirth subsidy programme (up to 100,000 yen).

Direct payment system for the childbirth lump-sum allowance
This hospital uses Japan's direct payment system for the childbirth and childcare lump-sum allowance; we recommend using this system. The benefit amount is 500,000 yen. We handle the claim to your health insurer on your behalf and apply it directly to your hospitalization costs, at no handling fee to you (this also covers the family childbirth allowance and equivalent benefits under mutual aid associations).
If your delivery costs exceed 500,000 yen, the difference is payable at our accounting desk at discharge. Where insured treatment such as a caesarean section applies, the usual 30% co-payment is due, and the lump-sum benefit can be applied toward that as well.
Patients using this system sign a consent form during admission procedures. If you prefer not to use it, please let us know; in that case the full delivery cost is payable at discharge.
Before your delivery
Please present your health insurance card at admission, and again promptly if your insurance changes during your stay.
If you left employment within the last six months and are now on a different health insurance plan, you may still be able to claim this benefit through your former employer's insurance; please bring your certificate of loss of eligibility along with your insurance card (ask your former employer for details).
If a prenatal checkup indicates in advance that a costly insured procedure such as a caesarean section will likely be needed, please apply to your health insurer for a “Limit Application Certificate” and present it at our accounting desk. Once presented, your co-payment is capped (broadly, around 80,100 yen plus 1% of total medical cost, varying by income). Please obtain this certificate before discharge if you do not already have it at admission; without it, your bill will be higher.
Maternity Medical Compensation System
This national programme, in effect since January 2009, provides prompt compensation through an insurer for infants who develop severe cerebral palsy in connection with delivery. Registration is by institution rather than by individual patient, so every patient delivering here is automatically covered, rather than needing to enrol separately.
Purpose
- To provide financial compensation to families of infants who develop cerebral palsy in connection with delivery.
- To analyse the causes of cerebral palsy and share findings to support future prevention.
- To help resolve disputes promptly and support the ongoing quality of obstetric care.
This applies to deliveries from January 1, 2009 onward.
