Booking your delivery
If you think you may be pregnant, please contact us first. A booking is required for delivery here; see the dedicated booking page for details.
We use Pokemed, an app that lets you check your place in the queue before a visit, and Rakuda, a pay-later billing system. Please see the linked pages for details on each.
Preparing for birth
Regular prenatal checkups take place in a separate waiting area from our other departments, so you can attend without feeling self-conscious.
Parenting classes
We hold an online class over Zoom, in two parts, to help you prepare emotionally for birth. Details are available through our obstetrics outpatient clinic.
Admission
All of our pre-delivery rooms are private, letting you settle in calmly ahead of delivery. For patient safety, rooms are monitored by camera.
Delivery
Epidural pain relief is available here around the clock, every day of the year. After delivery, you will move to the obstetrics ward.
Discharge
For a vaginal delivery, counting the day of birth as day zero, discharge is typically planned for day five. Please feel free to raise any questions about caring for your newborn; parenting guidance is available. See our postpartum support page for more.
Delivery costs
We use the direct-payment system for the childbirth lump-sum allowance, so the public benefit is paid directly to the hospital. See the linked page for cost details.
Infection control
To protect our obstetrics ward, everyone admitted to the delivery room or obstetrics ward is screened for their current health status. If an infection is suspected, a planned delivery may be postponed, or admission may proceed under infection-control arrangements. This hospital does not have a NICU, so in some circumstances a newborn alone may need to be transferred to another facility.
