Our breast surgery service treats breast cancer through a combined approach of surgery, whether breast-conserving (partial mastectomy) or full mastectomy, together with drug therapy, tailored to the individual case.
Surgical approach
Where the extent and location of the disease allow it, breast-conserving surgery is considered, removing the affected tissue while preserving as much of the breast as reasonably possible; where the case calls for it, a full mastectomy is performed. The choice between these approaches, and any accompanying reconstruction, is made together with the patient based on the specifics of the case.
Drug therapy
Chemotherapy, where indicated, takes place in our chemotherapy room, in private and semi-private reclining chair-beds, with four chairs available across morning and afternoon sessions. We aim to manage side effects such as nausea with supportive medication, and to support patients' wellbeing and daily life alongside treatment.
Follow-up care
We coordinate closely with our imaging and pathology teams so that test results and treatment planning can proceed without unnecessary delay, and provide ongoing follow-up after treatment.
