Surgery

An experienced team works together across a broad range of conditions centred on gastrointestinal and breast surgery.

We treat everything from gastrointestinal and breast cancers to benign conditions such as inguinal hernia. We take care over post-operative management alongside a safe, technically sound operation, aiming to support each patient's recovery in body and mind. For emergencies, we accept patients around the clock, every day of the year, when a case needs more specialised investigation or treatment, or falls outside regular hours; a surgeon is on site until 23:00, and a physician able to respond to surgical emergencies is on call beyond that. Every surgeon on our team has more than twenty years of experience and works to keep current with the latest developments in the field. Please talk to us with any concern.

What we treat

Working across teams

We aim to move quickly, working closely with our imaging and pathology teams so that test results come back promptly and treatment can be planned without delay; in many cases surgery can be scheduled within about two weeks of a first visit.

Gastrointestinal surgery

Alongside surgery and chemotherapy for cancers of the stomach, colon, pancreas, and bile duct, we treat benign conditions such as acute cholecystitis, appendicitis, and inguinal hernia, and perform surgery for anal conditions including haemorrhoids and perianal abscess. Where suitable, we favour a minimally invasive laparoscopic approach. We also run a stoma outpatient clinic.

Breast surgery

Our breast clinic covers diagnosis, testing, and regular screening across breast conditions generally. For breast cancer, we offer a combined approach of surgery, whether partial or full mastectomy, together with drug therapy.

Plastic surgery

We hold a general plastic surgery clinic once a week, on Wednesday mornings.

Conditions commonly seen here include scarring (on the face or elsewhere on the body), skin tumours (warts, moles, lipoma, sebaceous naevus, and similar), and congenital conditions of the body surface (syndactyly, polydactyly, cleft lip and palate, hypospadias, accessory ear, and ear deformities, among others), as well as body odour conditions, phimosis, ingrown toenails, pressure sores, and blepharoptosis.
